Both Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary and the adjacent Anshi National Park house huge tracts of evergreen forests. These reserves encompass breathtaking gorges, valley lush greenery. A known habitat of the rare Black Panther, these jungles are home to other wild animals such as, Spotted Deer, Sambar, barking deer, sloth bear, gaur (Indian bison), wild boar, jackal and elephant.
The forests of Dandeli are also home to over 300 species of birds. Frequent sighting of the pied hornbill, yellow footed pigeon, crested serpent eagle, black bulbul, minivets, iora and peafowl, make Dandeli an unforgettable experience. From the Camp, one can also sight Malabar hornbills nesting across the river.
